Myths Debunked
- ACP is great for astro photography! No other tool permits unattended imaging of multiple targets with adaptive guider and focus control. Jim McMillan has written a paper Unattended Deep Sky Imaging, which you might want to read now.
- You don't need any scripting or programming skills. ACP allows you to perform complex runs from simple forms on your browser, via our innovative ACP Planner, and via simple text files which we call plans.
- ACP is fast and easy to set up and learn. When you install ACP, you're taken through a "getting started" process that finishes with a hands-off automated image acquisition run. This unique feature steps you through the instrument and software checkout needed to assure a quick success.
- ACP is not ASCOM. ACP is a software package for integrating observatory instruments into an automated system. ASCOM is an initiative to make observatory instruments controllable through standard calls. ACP uses ASCOM. So do over 40 other software packages from a variety of authors.
